About Colin C. Rorrie, Jr., PhD, CAE

Dr. Rorrie joined OPIS after an extensive career in the association industry. Colin worked for the American College of Physicians, the American College of Emergency Physicians and Meeting Professionals International. He served as the CEO of ACEP and MPI. His other experience includes a faculty appointment in the Graduate Program in Health Care Administration, Washington University School of Medicine and Director of the Bureau of Health Planning, US Department of Health and Human Services where he was responsible for the implementation of Public Law 93-641, the National Health Planning and Resources Development Act.

While at ACEP and MPI, Colin developed strong staff teams that collaborated with association members to achieve an effective strategic planning process that drove each organizations budget and committee processes. He helped develop state of the art human resource systems for both organizations.  An emphasis on leadership development was also a major focus at ACEP and MPI.

Colin has been very active as a volunteer leader having served as chairman of the American Society of Association Executives, the ASAE Foundation, the American Society of Medical Society  Executives and Medic Alert International. He is a certified association executive and was named an ASAE Fellow in 1993. In 2004, he received ASAEs highest recognition, the Key Award.
